Taeguk Mun, cello, claimed the First Place Prize in the Junior Division with his performance of the Sinfonia Concertante Sonata by Sergei Prokofiev.

FLUSHING, NEW YORK -

Queens Symphony Orchestra is excited to announce the winners of our prestigious 2010 Young Soloist Competition. The final round of this competition was held as a public recital at the Taiwan Center in Flushing on March 7, 2010 at 4 pm, after which the winners were announced. In addition to cash prizes, the first and second place winners of both the senior and junior divisions will be invited to perform with QSO during the 2010-2011 season. The judges included Aimee Chow, manager with IMG Artists and Constantine Kitsopoulos, QSO Music Director. This was truly an opportunity for our gifted youth to be heard by leading members of the industry and perform with the only professional orchestra in the borough of Queens!

 

Majority Leader Leroy Comrie also recognized all our competition finalists with citations for their valuable musical contributions to New York City.

 

QSO's Young Soloist Competition was sponsored in part by Astoria Federal Savings Bank, the Taiwan Center, the Taiwanese American Association of New York and the Queens Chronicle.
