Meet The Composers at “Taiwanese Composers Concert”

 

Taiwanese American Association of New York (TAANY) will present “Taiwanese Composers Concert” on Saturday, August 26, 7pm at Queensborough Community College Performing Arts Center (222-05 56th Avenue & Springfield Blvd., Bayside, NY). This concert is part of the Concert Tour to Los Angeles, Washington, DC and New York City, starting August 19 through August 26.

It will feature works by 8 Taiwanese contemporary composers, who currently live in Taiwan and the US.  They are:  Henry Huan-Pi Cheng, Hui-Hung Huang, Hsin-Daw Lian, Tsen-Ling Lin, Fang-Long Ke, Ching-Tan Shen, Melody Sun and Jin-Fu Yu. They received their professional music education in Taiwan, as well as abroad, such as in the US, Canada, Austria and Germany.

 

The performing artists are Hsiu-Yu Wang, soprano, Ching-Sung Chen, tenor, Susan Cheng and Wan-Shiou Lan, pianists.

 

Please come to meet the 6 composers from Taiwan and California, and enjoy the music created through the inspiration by the folk tunes of Holonese, Hakkanese and Aboriginal, these are some of the majority ethnic groups living in Taiwan.

 

The presenter, TAANY is the largest organization of its kind in the Greater New York established in 1969. It is a non-profit organization serving the Taiwanese-American to fulfill their American Dream. The mission of TAANY is to introduce Taiwanese Culture to the American, and the American culture to the immigrants from Taiwan and other areas of Asia.

 

The President of TAANY, Ms. Shiu-Ho Lin would like to invite the New Yorkers to learn more about Taiwanese culture through the music presented at this concert.
