皇后交響樂團(Queens Symphony Orchestra) 本季(2008-09)第五十六年 三場經典音樂會系列伯恩斯坦與樂友 ( Bernstein and Friends),特別為紀念美國作曲家伯恩斯坦九十歲冥誕策劃演出 .  其第三場 “  聖歌之旅音樂會, 將五月九日 (週六) 晚間七時三十分, 假貝賽皇后社區學院藝術表演中心舉行. 地址為: Queensborough Community College Performing Arts Center 地址:222-05 56th Avenue & Springfield Blvd., Bayside, NY.

 

此場演奏會由該樂團音樂總監 康斯坦丁. 柯蘇普樂斯(Constantine Kitsopoulos指揮. 演出

(Carlos Chavez’s Toccata for Percussion Ensemble)

 

 

彼得·伊里奇·柴可夫斯基-弦樂小夜曲

(Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings in C Major)

 

 

壓軸節目為 倫納德·伯恩斯坦-合唱交響曲 齊徹斯特詩篇 (Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms) .

 

 此曲特別邀請鄰近青少年合唱團團員助陣, 他們來自皇后區 貝賽高中(Bayside High School) , 法蘭西斯•路易斯高中(Francis Lewis High School) 長島中伊斯力普市高中(Central Islip High School) 以及新州紐瓦市男童合唱團 (Newark Boys Chorus) 與皇后交響樂團共同演出. 希望您出席支持他們! 

 

演出前一小時 六時三十分開始, 將提供30分鐘之 音樂會前講座會(Pre-Concert Lecture), 由指揮康斯坦丁. 柯蘇普樂斯(Constantine Kitsopoulos), 講解該音樂會曲目及回答問題. 購買套票者(subscribers)  免費,   持單場門票者僅另收$5.

QSO FINAL CONCERT OF THE SEASON SHOWCASES THE BOROUGH’S TALENTED YOUTH!

 

Don’t miss QSO’s final concert in their 2008-2009 "Bernstein & Friends" Masterworks Series! To remember Leonard Bernstein on what would have been his 90th birthday this season, QSO will present Spiritual Journey. This concert will feature Toccata for Percussion Ensemble by Carlos Chavez and Serenade for Strings in C major by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The evening will conclude with the stunning Chichester Psalms by Leonard Bernstein. Bernstein’s choral masterpiece will showcase the combined concert choirs of Bayside, Central Islip and Francis Lewis High Schools and members of the Newark Boys Chorus. Come celebrate and support our local, talented youth!

 

QSO also invites you to attend our new Pre-Concert Lecture Series at 6:30 pm for an informative talk about the evening’s event. Maestro Kitsopoulos will explain the chosen repertoire of the concert and answer any questions you may have about the program. Subscribers receive this series for free, but any ticket buyer may attend for only $5!

 

Maestro Constantine Kitsopoulos, in his third season as QSO Music Director, is only the third Music Director in the Queens Symphony’s 56-year history. Constantine Kitsopoulos has made a name for himself as a conductor whose musical experiences comfortably span the worlds of opera and symphony, where he conducts in such venues as Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall and Royal Albert Hall, and musical theater, where he can be found leading orchestras on Broadway. Maestro Kitsopoulos is General Director of Chatham Opera and has conducted opera productions in this country and around the world. He has conducted symphony orchestras around the world including the San Francisco, Baltimore, Detroit, Hartford, Milwaukee, Mobile, Princeton, Virginia, Santa Barbara, Annapolis, New Jersey and Madison Symphonies as well as the Hong Kong, Calgary, and Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestras. On Broadway Mo. Kitsopoulos was the Music Director and Conductor of the Tony-nominated play, Coram Boy, Tony Award winning Baz Lurhmann’s production of La Boheme, Frank Wildhorn’s Dracula, Les Miserables, and Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake. Maestro Kitsopoulos studied conducting with Vincent La Selva. He recently finished a successful run as Music Director for the new Broadway musical A Catered Affair, starring Harvey Fierstein.
